Privatize operation of the LIRR
How is the president of the Long Island Rail Road still in his job? It’s unbelievable that he, along with many others operating the railroad, haven’t been thrown out [“Doors open over drop,” News, March 11].
There seems to be no accountability for any of the continual mishaps and poor service. In addition to late trains, canceled trains and poor communication, now the conductors can’t check a door that opened above a drop of several yards?
If this were a private company, heads would roll. That would be the best direction for the LIRR — let a private company run it and dump the mismanagement!
