I am writing in response to the report about Hempstead Town spokesman Michael Deery’s salary [“Town official, 2nd driver in fatality,” News, Nov. 4].

Where is the outrage over civil servants’ salaries?

Years ago, these jobs gave benefits and job security. Now, the pay is above the private sector. He’s making nearly $194,000 plus benefits.

That is insane. Politicians give away our tax dollars, and we don’t care.
