Could the four-year serial drama about finding a president for Nassau Community College be coming to an end?

After SUNY stepped in this summer to push the politicized and divided NCC trustees to get moving, a search committee named four finalists today.

Next month, each candidate will have a day on campus and an open forum with students and faculty.

Mark your calendar for Feb. 4, when Kenneth Saunders, who had been the acting president for more than two years but could never get a majority of trustees to vote for him, will get the microphone.

The other finalists are:

  • Stephen Schoonmaker: The former president of a community college in Little Rock, Arkansas, is the head of a firm that provides leadership and consulting training.
  • Gena Glickman: She is president of Manchester Community College in Connecticut.
  • Tyjaun Lee: She is vice president for student services at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland.
