Peekskill firefighters in drive to aid Sandy families

The Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce is asking the friends and neighbors to help the Peekskill Professional Firefighter Association in a drive to aid families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The firefighters will be collecting items at a 7:30 a.m. Thursday holiday breakfast sponsored by the chamber at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, 1701 Main St., Peekskill.

Mold remover, bleach, diapers, infant formula, bottled water, nonperishable food items, personal hygiene items, blankets, rubber gloves, garbage bags, batteries and pet products are high on the firefighters' wish list.

In addition, the association will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children affected by the hurricane. Check or cash donations also will be accepted.

The breakfast costs $15 with advance paid registration and $17 at the door for members, and $20 for nonmembers.

For more information, call the chamber at 914-737-3600.
