Prosecution in Annabi corruption trial follows money trail

WHITE PLAINS - An IRS agent gave potentially damaging testimony today in the corruption trial of former Yonkers City Councilwoman Sandy Annabi. The agent put together a money trail from 2002 to 2008 arranged in charts, adding up all the alleged financial benefits Annabi may have received from former Yonkers Republican Party Chairman Zehy Jereis, from car and mortgage payments to cable and electric bills.According to the testimony, the former councilwoman received a total of $174,000 from her political mentor. The prosecutors claim that it was Annabi's compensation for changing her votes on controversial development projects.Yonkers Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Cacace was also called to testify today, saying that Jereis, who was hired as a consultant for the organization, didn't bring anything to the table beside his political ties.
