Rowland sinks game-winner in OT for SJB

Tim Rowland hit the game-winner with 8.4 seconds left in overtime yesterday to lift St. John the Baptist to a 68-67 win over Center Moriches in non-league.

Kyle Williams blocked a Center Moriches shot as time expired to preserve the lead for St. John the Baptist (8-1). Dante Thompson led the Cougars with 24 points and 17 rebounds.Islip 57, East Islip 55: Tyler Murphy (8 points) hit a fadeaway jumper off an offensive rebound as time expired to give Islip (4-2) the win in the finals of the East Islip Holiday Tournament. Fabian MacDonald led Islip with 14 points and David Powell had 10 points and seven assists. West Islip 58, Lindenhurst 55: James Tucci hit a jumper with 18 seconds left to put West Islip (1-1) up, 56-55, in the East Islip Holiday Tournament consolation game. West Islip's Chris Anderson hit a layup off a steal on the ensuing possession by Lindenhurst to seal it. Kyle Turri scored 16 points and added seven rebounds for West Islip. Stu Warren scored a game-high 18 points for Lindenhurst (1-1).St. Mary's 63, Wadleigh 59: Chauvaughn Lewis had a game-high 28 points and had 18 rebounds to lead St. Mary's (5-0) in an overtime game at the Big Apple Classic at Baruch College. St. Mary's overcame a five-point deficit with four minutes left to force overtime. Dante Agnew made two free throws with 16 seconds left for the final margin.West Babylon 69, Smithtown West 52: Chris Doyle had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead West Babylon (3-2) in the Smithtown Christmas Tournament consolation game. Roslyn 54, Port Washington 52: Mark Gjonlekaj scored 23 points and had eight rebounds to lead Roslyn (3-2) in the second game of the Manhasset Tournament. Josh Feshbach and Casey Ozcayir each had 11 points for Port Washington.Commack 58, Glenn 48: Nick Arnold and Dillon Hertel each scored 15 points for Commack (2-2) in non-league. Arnold scoring nine of his points during an 18-6 first quarter and also had 10 rebounds. Tony McGee scored a game-high 21 points for Glenn. GIRLS BASKETBALL

Elmont 48, Bellmore JFK 35: Bria Fisher had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Elmont (2-0) in Nassau Conference AA-III. Alex Clark added 14 points in the win.Canon McMillian (Pa.) 59, Harborfields 54: Lynn Zhong scored 22 points in defeat for Haborfields (2-2) at the KSA Events Tournament in Orlando, Fla. Alexia O'Connor had 13 points and Kasey Stolba had 10 points for Harborfields.Huntington 45, Bay Shore 40: Jackie Waldron had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Raynisha Witherspoon had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Huntington (2-2) in non-league.Massapequa 38, Sacred Heart 33: Van Buren scored seven of her eight points during a 19-4 fourth quarter as Massapequa (4-1) overcame a 26-11 second-half deficit in an non-league game. Taylor Elliot had nine points and 10 rebounds and Nicole Scicutella added eight points. Mineola 41, Plainview JFK 25: Kerri Medlock had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Mineola (2-1) in non-league. Heather Gessner added seven points and 12 rebounds and Kalie Medlock had six points and 12 rebounds.Rocky Point 37, Southold 26: Shannon Grodotzke had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Rocky Point (1-3) in non-league. Rocky Point closed the gameiwth a 12-0 run. Annie Kennedy added 12 points and nine rebounds for Rocky Point.WRESTLING

Bonamico is MVP. Sayville's Justin Bonamico finished 6-0 and was named tournament MVP at 135 pounds at the Walt Disney World Duals in Orlando, Fl. Sayville went 5-1 and took second out of 10 teams.

Montgomery is MOW. Seaford's Will Montgomery (125 pounds) was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the Ralph Janssen Tournament. Montgomery, who won the final by pin in 4:41, also had the most pins (4) in the least amount of time (9:45).
