Benjamin Weissof G.W. Hewlett High School performs clarinet and piano at numerous recitals, charity events and senior nursing homes here on Long Island, as well as internationally. His musical talents have benefited the American Cancer Society, Tsunami Relief Fund, Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony, Nassau/Suffolk Hospice Fundraiser, St. Barnabus Church in Bellmore, Bellevue Hospital Center and Sloan-Kettering’s Pediatric Department.
Ben is currently a member of the wind ensemble, the jazz band, the pit orchestra and the chorale. In 2011, he served as band conductor for his school’s Cabaret Night fundraiser for pediatric cancer. He has composed original works for the musical theater and chamber ensembles.
Other accolades include acceptance into the 2012 NYSSMA All-State Piano Festival and NYSSMA’s “Call for Compositions”. He is also a member of the Asterean Chapter of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and Thespian Society. Ben aspires to be a Broadway musical director.
