Surgery for 76ers top pick Simmons

No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons likely will need surgery for a broken bone in his right foot. Philadelphia 76ers president Bryan Colangelo said yesterday no decision had been made and there was no timetable for how long Simmons would be out of action. Simmons fractured the fifth metatarsal bone.

Kings’ Collison suspended eight games

Sacramento Kings guard Darren Collison has been suspended eight games without pay by the NBA because of a domestic violence incident involving his wife. Collison pleaded guilty Sept. 2 to misdemeanor domestic battery.

In-Kyung Kim, 28, won the Reignwood LPGA Classic for her first LPGA Tour victory in six years, making an eagle and a birdie on the two late par 5s to lead a South Korean sweep of the top three places. Kim shot a 7-under 66 at Reignwood Pine Valley in Beijing.
