Tigers manager Jim Leyland was ejected from Monday's 7-4 loss to Boston.
Why? He didn't particularly agree with home plate umpire Jeff Nelson's blown call, nor first base umpire Bill Welke's call on the appeal.
Here's what happened: Boston's Mike Aviles swung at a pitch that would have been strike three. Nelson called it a foul tip, and Welke said the ball hit the dirt before Tigers catcher Gerald Laird caught it.
Only, Aviles never tipped the ball and the ball never hit the dirt. Strike three. Out three. No runs scored.
Leyland wasn't happy about it then, nor in his post-game interview. He didn't criticize the umpires because he knows that means he'll get fined. Instead, he got mad at the media. Watch and enjoy.
