Best moves by Rangers GM Jon Daniels

Traded Blake Beavan, Josh Lueke, Matthew Lawson and Justin Smoak to Seattle for Cliff Lee, Mark Lowe and $2.25 million, July 9, 2010. This amounted to the Rangers' "graduation" from their rebuilding plan. Traded Mark Teixeira and Ron Mahay to Atlanta for Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison, Beau Jones and Jarrod Saltalamacchia, July 31, 2007. On the other end of the spectrum, this launched the Rangers' rebuilding plan.

Traded Danny Herrera and Edinson Volquez to Cincinnati for Josh Hamilton, Dec. 21, 2007. Hamilton, when healthy, has been one of the game's most dynamic players.

Persuaded Michael Young to move to third base for the 2009 season. That turned shortstop from a defensive liability to a strength, as Andrus stepped in and shined.

Signed Vladimir Guerrero to a one-year, $6-million deal, Jan. 9, 2010.
