Chris Young, who’s trying to make it back from the shoulder surgery he had a year ago, will make his next rehab start in Buffalo Thursday. Sandy Alderson said Josh Thole, who’s been out since May 7 with a concussion, will catch Young after serving as the Bisons’ DH Wednesday. Thole could be back in the majors Friday. Young, though, still has a ways to go.

“It was Chris’ idea to move to Buffalo,” Alderson said. “So I think from that standpoint, it was a real encouraging sign and he felt that he was ready to move ... I would say he would need more than one start in Buffalo.”

...R.A. Dickey was named NL player of the week ... Alderson “fully expects” reliever Pedro Beato (shoulder) will be ready to pitch when he’s eligible to come off the DL on Sunday.
