Contest: Baseball on the Brain

"Baseball on the Brain," by Dennis Purdy, is a book with 1,003 trivia questions about baseball.

Some are fun, but many are outdated. There's a lot of "The last person to do such-and-such..." when someone has done that thing since the book's publication (2007). There's also some "Name the current leader..." when, again, things have changed.

I'm not sure what would compel a person, and a publishing company, to set yourself up for being outdated with such questions. But what the hell do I know? I'm the guy who said Gordon Beckham would be the 2010 American League MVP.

So I'll give this book to the first person who e-mails me - at kdavidoff@newsday.com - with the correct answer to this question:

Name the year that Jimmie Foxx won the Triple Crown in the American League.

Here are the contest rules.

--UPDATE, 1:22 p.m.: We have a winner! SosaLJ knew that Jimme Foxx won the Triple Crown in 1933. Your next chance to win some free crap will come on Friday.
