Former Long Island Ducks outfielder Lew Ford had his first hit in nearly five years in Tuesday’s 11-5 Baltimore win over the Yankees at the Stadium.
Ford, 35, made his third straight start in left field for the Orioles and went 1-for-4 with a double to center in the third. It was Ford’s first hit since Sept. 21, 2007 when he was with the Minnesota Twins, and he later scored on an RBI-double by Wilson Betemit.
Ford was with the Ducks in 2009, ’11 and the start of this season and hit .326 with 150 runs scored, 24 home runs and 114 RBI in 184 career games with the Ducks. He was signed by the Orioles on May 17 and made his return to the big leagues on Sunday.
Between his major-league appearances, Ford played in Japan, Louisville, Kentucky, Mexico, Long Island and Norfolk, Virginia.
