Here is a timeline of Dwight Gooden's troubled past.

Spring training 1987: Tested positive for cocaine.

1991: Accused of rape, along with two teammates; no charges were pressed.

1995: MLB's executive committee suspended Gooden for repeatedly violating drug program.

February 2002: Arrested and charged in Tampa, Fla., with DUI and driving with a suspended license.

January 2003: Arrested for driving with a suspended license

March 2005: Charged with a misdemeanor for punching his girlfriend.

August 2005: Accused of fleeing from a traffic stop in Tampa and driving erratically. Gooden turned himself in three days after the incident.

March 2006: Arrested after violating his probation when he appeared at a meeting with his probation officer high on cocaine. Gooden would spend eight months in jail.

March 2010: Charged with driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while under the influence of drugs, DWI with a child passenger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, reckless driving, failure to keep right and failure to notify change of address regarding his driver's license. He was released on his own recognizance.
