Shortly after suffering an open dislocation of his right ankle in a trampoline accident March 22, Joba Chamberlain said, to mostly disbelieving ears, he would pitch again this season. He took another significant step forward Friday, throwing a 25-pitch bullpen session at the team’s minor-league complex in Tampa and, even more significant, running sprints in the outfield.

At the time of the accident, Chamberlain was ahead of schedule — on pace to return in early-to-mid-June — in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
