All remnants of chicken-gate have officially flown the coop. Or at least they've left Citi Field.
A few days after Mets closer Frank Francisco was placed on the disabled list, the chicken his words inspired the Mets to buy was allowed to retire at Farm Sanctuary.
The chicken, Little Jerry Seinfeld, named after a chicken on the popular TV show "Seinfeld," was brought into the Mets clubhouse by Tim Byrdak shortly after Francisco called the Yankees "chickens."
Thus brings to an end an interesting sidebar in Mets/Yankees history and numerous horrible puns that writers like myself couldn't stay away from.
