Marcus Stroman just broke his mother’s heart.

The Toronto Blue Jays righthander from Medford tweeted Saturday that he plans to play for Team USA — and not Puerto Rico — in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

“Very difficult decision. Sorry momma. Crazy excited to be playing for #TEAMUSA in the #WBC. Back to them @USABaseball days! @WBCBaseball,” Stroman tweeted from his official Twitter account Saturday.

Stroman’s mother, Adlin Auffant, is of Puerto Rican decent, making the Patchogue-Medford High School grad eligible to play for both teams.

Stroman played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in 2011.

Stroman went 9-10 with a 4.37 ERA, 1.289 WHIP and 166 strikeouts in 32 starts with the Blue Jays last season.
