After beating Houston Saturday, the Mets announced the promotion of outfielder Lucas Duda from Buffalo. They will make a corresponding roster move Sunday.

Before the game, Terry Collins said Duda, who was demoted to Buffalo on July 24, will be back in the middle of the lineup once he returns.

“He’s had some good games in Buffalo and he’s had some games that are similar to what we saw here,” the manager said. “They tell me they thought he’s made some improvements, and we’re certainly anxious to get him back because I still think he’s a threat in the middle of the lineup.”

Collins hopes Duda, who was hitting .241 with 12 homers and 44 RBIs in 89 games for the Mets, will provide much-needed power. Despite playing for Buffalo for the past month, Duda still ranks fourth on the Mets in home runs and fifth in RBIs.

Hefner returns to hill

Jeremy Hefner (2-5, 5.11 ERA) will start for the Mets on Sunday after missing a start while on paternity leave.
