Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler aren’t going anywhere. Ditto for David Wright. So where does that leave the Mets at the trade deadline?

Well, that depends on whether general manager Sandy Alderson is willing to part with his organization’s store of young pitching.

If the Mets put the likes of Noah Syndergaard or Rafael Montero in play, it’s possible that they can swing a deal for an impact position player moving forward.

Bobby Parnell’s emergence as a legitimate back end bullpen piece might also be enough to score a prospect with one major tool, a rival executive said recently.

But the Mets’ remaining trade assets – veterans such as Marlon Byrd and Shaun Marcum – likely won’t net much more than future bit players at best.
