Mets righthander Jacob deGrom won the Players Choice award as the National League's most outstanding rookie, perhaps a precursor to the NL Rookie of the Year award.

"It's great to be recognized by your fellow players," deGrom said in a statement.

DeGrom, 26, led all NL rookies in strikeouts (144) and ERA (2.69) while tying for the lead in wins (nine).

The Rookie of the Year winner will be announced next Monday.
