Aug. 16: Mets 3, Astros 1
Recap: Once again, the Mets seemed destined to waste a good starting performance by Jon Niese. But tied 1-1 in the ninth, they put two runners on against Matt Lindstrom, who threw a wild pitch to bring home the go-ahead run. In the bottom of the ninth, Jerry Manuel gave the ball to fill-in closer Hisanori Takahashi. Takahashi replaced Francisco Rodriguez, who learned before the game he had a torn ligament in his right thumb -- presumably from the punch he landed on his girlfriend's father last week.
Key stat: The Mets have scored three runs of fewer in 11 of their 14 games in August, going 6-8 in that span. Credit: AP
It's the morning after.
Time to get all of the K-Rod frustration out. The best way to do that is to join Dave Lennon for a live chat at 10 a.m.
Lennon will take your K-Rod questions and anything else you want to talk about with the Mets.
