Mets agree to terms with Tatis, sign righty Fogg

The Mets agreed to a one-year, $850,000 contract Friday with Fernando Tatis, who is expected to platoon with Daniel Murphy at first base this season.

Tatis played in 125 games for the Mets last season, hitting .282 with eight home runs and 48 RBIs in 340 at-bats. The signing of Tatis ends any chance of lefthanded-hitting Carlos Delgado's return to the Mets, which might have sent Murphy to the bench.

The Mets also signed righthander Josh Fogg to a minor-league contract, Newsday has confirmed. Fogg, 32, is 62-69, mostly as a starter. He has an ERA of 5.09 in nine seasons.

In 24 games with Colorado in 2009, mostly as a reliever, he was 0-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 452/3 innings, walking 20 and striking out 27.
