Mets give one-year deal to Scott Hairston

There isn’t much room on the roster, but the Mets have signed outfielder Scott Hairston to a one-year contract. It is a minor league deal and he will be invited to spring training

Hairston, 30, had 10 doubles, 10 home runs, 36 RBI and scored 34 runs in 104 games for San Diego while batting .210 (62-295) last year.

In 2009, Hairston combined to hit .265 (114-430)  with 27 doubles, 17 home runs and 64 RBI in 116 games  Padres and Oakland Athletics.

He hit 17 home runs with 18 doubles and 31 RBI in 112 games with the Padres in 2008.

In seven major league seasons with the Diamondbacks, Padres and Athletics, Hairston has hit 68 home runs with 91 doubles, 13 triples and 198 RBI in 564 games.
