Big doings tonight in Washington. The Nationals will let the media at 17-year-old Bryce Harper, their $9.9 million catcher-outfielder who was the first pick in the June draft. The junior college slugger will be sent to the Nats' minor league camp on the Gulf Coast but will not play a game. He will have a strict schedule of activities leading up to his minor league debut next season.
Stephen Strasburg, the top pick a year ago, was supposed to start tonight but he is on the disabled list for the second time this season. Jordan Zimmerman, who was big news before Strasburg came along, will make his 2010 debut as a starter. He had Tommy John surgery in 2009.
