Reports indicate that Johan Santana has been playing catch at his home in Fort Myers as he makes his way back from shoulder surgery.
Mets Pitching coach Dan Warthen is quoted saying that Santana ``tossed a baseball'' three times and will accelerate his throwing during the spring.
Santana was 11-9 with a 2.98 ERA last season. He missed most of September.
He has three seasons left on his contract and is owed $71.5 million.
Santana will join the team Tuesday in Port St. Lucie when pitchers and catchers are scheduled to officially report. .
Santana is not expected to pitch in a regular season game before the All-Star break.
