Singer-songwriter Terry Cashman recalled to USA Today the time when he spoke to Edwin ``Duke'' Snider about his famous nickname.
``Duke said to me that I had to thank his uncle," said Cashman, who made the ``Willie, Mickey and the Duke'' phrase into a baseaball ballad. "He said, 'My uncle was the guy that gave me the nickname.' Otherwise, you would have had to call the song, ``Willie, Mickey and the Edwin.''
Snider died Sunday at 84.
