Subway Series moment: Pop up and pop off

As if Mets fans need reminding, last year's Subway Series opener in Yankee Stadium saw Luis Castillo drop Alex Rodriguez' very routine pop up to second base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth with the Mets up by a run. The error allowed two runs to score, with Mark Texiera coming all the way from first  base.

Afterward, then-Yankee reliever Brian Bruney took some shots at Mets’ reliever Francisco Rodriguez, who was hit for a blown save.  Bruney said ``He’s got a tired act,’’ among other choice words about the usually animated K-Rod.

K-Rod berated him as a Double-A pitcher, encountered Bruney on the field a day later, but Bruney eventually apologized.

Bruney was traded to Washington after the season and this year, after going 1-2 with a 7.64 earned run average, was designated for assignment.
