Appraisal time

So much uncertainty exists about the value of the Mets' veteran arms on the trade market. But when the pitching market eventually thaws, the Mets finally might have their answer.

To the left

Of all the Mets' needs, an experienced lefthanded reliever might be the most pressing because no internal options exist. It's also the reason the Mets might be most aggressive on this front.

Short order

The available shortstops on the trade market have not enticed the Mets thus far, though other signings and trades could bring new options to the forefront.
