PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Big-headed Mets team mascot Mr. Met joined Twitter Monday -- and immediately racked up more than 5,400 followers as of 10 last night.
After a first garbled tweet, Mr. Met (@MrMet) posted: "Sorry everyone, my fingers are too big. What I meant was, 'I'm on Twitter!' "
Mr. Met also posted a picture of himself typing on a computer in a threadbare office.
Mr. Met, who does not speak, could not be reached for comment.
"Mr. Met wants to let his tweets speak for themselves," a Mets spokesman said.-- ANTHONY RIEBER
