UPDATE: Ike Davis set to make MLB debut

IKE DAVIS Team: Mets | Position: First base

Ike Davis has impressed Mets fans this spring. His power to the gaps and sweet swing has many fans wanting this young man on the big league roster right now. That won't happen (he's already been sent to Triple A). If Daniel Murphy struggles at first base, the Mets will come calling for Davis by mid-May. Photo Credit: Newsday/Thomas A. Ferrara

It's official. The Ike Davis era has begun for the Mets.

The Mets announced today that they've called up first base phenom Davis from AAA Buffalo after Davis was, as recently as this morning, listed on in the lineup for the Bison's game against Scranton this afternoon.

Davis has absolutely been on a tear with Buffalo, hitting .364 with two home runs so far this season. It's been said that he's not prepared defensively to play in the big leagues, but the Mets are in a place right now where they just need to stop the bleeding. Is Davis the answer?
