Was 0-1 with a 9.45 ERA in two starts for Team Mexico in World Baseball Classic. Allowed 13 hits and eight runs in 62/3 innings.

Beat Padres on April 15 to become Mets' first winning pitcher at Citi Field. Limited San Diego to three hits and one run over six innings.

After first victory, went 0-3 over next three starts with 11.91 ERA before landing on the disabled list May 6 for first time with patellar tendinitis. Had 14 walks in 111/3 innings.

Returned from DL on July 8, beat Dodgers, but walked seven in five innings, one shy of his career high.

Rebounded to go 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA during a stretch of seven starts from July 8 to Aug. 12. Struck out 38 in 382/3 innings.

On Aug. 23, lasted only 2/3 of an inning against the Phillies for the second shortest start of his career. Recorded only one out against Giants on June 2, 2008. Turned out to be last start of season.
