Jose Reyes hasn't been an All-Star since 2007. David Wright's streak of four straight appearances could be ended this season by ... Placido Polanco.
But the Mets' wonder twins aren't going quietly, as we examine in today's Mets Insider.
Reyes has battled back from hamstring surgery, thyroid issues and an early stint on the DL to push for All-Star consideration - and maybe even a bunch of MVP votes later on. As for Wright, foam fingers or not, he has a good chance of overtaking Polanco in this final week of voting with his scorching month and the Mets' resurgence.
For those reasons, it's feeling a lot like 2006 and 2007 again, with Reyes and Wright hoping for a better ending.
