The Colorado Rockies Wednesday called up Matt Daley, a 2000 Garden City graduate, from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The righthanded reliever fills a roster spot that became open when Rockies starter Franklin Morales was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Daley, 26, was the winning pitcher for Garden City in the 2000 Class B state championship game. He played in college at Bucknell University. As a senior he went 6-2 with a 2.82 ERA and signed with the Rockies organization after the 2004 MLB draft. He will be making his major league debut.
