World Series prediction and Sandy Alderson - and there's a live chat today

Well, the LCS Predictions left us in a hole, so we have to start fresh with this World Series.:

Texas in 7.

Why? I think Texas is clearly the superior team. Better lineup, better starting rotation, better defense. That I think the Giants will stretch it to seven reflects the respect I hold for San Francisco's magical, mystical fall, and its ability to hang tough teams that look to be too difficult on paper.

In any case, I'm hoping for a fun Series, starting tonight with Cliff Lee vs. Tim Lincecum.

--Joe Girardi's contract extension should be completed very shortly, Erik Boland reports.

--The Mets will introduce Sandy Alderson as their general manager on Friday. Mets fans should rejoice. This is the most important hire they've made since they brought in Frank Cashen as GM in 1980.

I'd expect a low-profile manager to be brought in - maybe Mets coach Chip Hale? - and Alderson will probably import some lieutenants to work alongside incumbent assistant GM John Ricco.

In any case, the Mets will now operate with a purpose, a process and a plan. If Alderson doesn't turn them around, then they're really in trouble.

--Live chat today at 11:30. Who will be the World Series Live Chat MVP? It's a special honor, unquestionably.
