Burnett set to start against Rangers

After being scratched from his scheduled start against the Red Sox Sunday night, A.J. Burnett is ready to pitch against the Rangers in Texas tonight. Burnett experienced muscle spasms and felt pain in his back while throwing Saturday, but said the back felt better yesterday.

Burnett has been extremely inconsistent this season, allowing three earned runs or less 12 times and four earned runs or more 10 times. Burnett had an awful June and that's being kind. He was 0-5 had a 11.35 ERA and 2.26 WHIP. He turned it around in July by going 3-1 with a 2.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.

Burnett started August with a terrible outing last week against the Blue Jays, lasting 4 2/3 innings, while allowing eight hits, eight runs, two walks, two home runs, and struck out four in a loss.
