CC Sabathia gets out of first inning

CC Sabathia, who is 20-5 with a 2.95 ERA in his career at Yankee Stadium (including the postseason), got out of the first inning without any damage.

Elvis Andrus singled to center to start, which wasn't the start CC or the Yankees were looking for. Michael Young, however, grounded into a double play and the entire Stadium breathed a sigh or relief.

The red hot Josh Hamilton, who is looking like a possible ALCS MVP, singled to right. But CC got Vlad Guererro looking on a third strike. The Stadium came alive at that point.

The Yankees did finally get out to a lead last night, although it didn't last long. The key is that are Yankees aren't getting big hits with runners in scoring position.

Another key has been pitching. The starting pitching hasn't been great. Andy Pettitte was great in Game 3. The bullpen, however, has been bad.

How do the Yankees win Game 5? Some clutch hits would help. The Yankees had many chances to blow open Game 4. And I'd be surprised if Joe Girardi doesn't go with CC as long as possible and then turns it over to Mariano Rivera, who could go two innings. CC and Mariano are well-rested. Can't leave anything to chance with your season on the line.
