Derek Jeter singled in the first inning to earn career hit No. 2,994 on Monday night. It came on a 1-0 count against Cleveland Indians third-year starter Carlos Carrasco.

After the Yankees loaded the bases with none out, Jeter was stranded on third.

The single was Jeter's first career hit against Carlos Carrasco, sixth against pitchers named Carrasco, 16th on June 13 and 168th against the Cleveland Indians.

Jeter left the game in the bottom of the fifth after flying out the right field. Leaving the box after hitting the ball, Jeter winced and hobbled toward the bag. He left the game and was replaced at shortstop bu Eduardo Nunez.
