Derek Jeter's two-out, two-run double in the second inning of Tuesday's game leaves him just four hits shy of 3,000. Hit No. 2,995 came in the first inning, an infield single to third base.

Jeter struck out to end the third inning with runners on first and third.

The hits came against Carlos Carrasco of the Cleveland Indians. Those were Jeter's second and thirds career hits off Carrasco. His first? Hit No. 2,994 on June 13, a single to lead off the first inning. In between, Jeter missed 18 games with a strained right calf.

Jeter has the remainder of Tuesday night's game plus Wednesday night in Cleveland before coming home for a four-game series with Tampa Bay before the All-Star break.
