Dustin Moseley . . . . . really?

The Yankees must think they know something about 28-year-old Dustin Moseley, who will be in uniform today when they host the Blue Jays.

Moseley was called up because he signed a contract that forced the Yankees to either bring him up by today or let him become a free agent.

My question: why would the Yankees care? Moseley was 4-4 with a 4.21 ERA at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. His career record in the majors (all with the Angels) is 8-7 with a 5.41 ERA.

Moseley was a first-round pick (34th overall) of the Reds in 2000, so he probably has a good arm. I've never seen him pitch. Or if I have I've forgotten.

Other things Moseley has going for him? He can't be worse than Chad Gaudin. And he has a Wikipedia page. So there's no harm is having him be the 12th man on your staff until Sergio Mitre and/or Alfredo Aceves are ready to return from the DL.
