Girardi expects Hughes to be better on regular routine

Joe Girardi, like most observers, expects to see a better performance from Phil Hughes tonight than he saw from Hughes in Game 2.

"I think most players are creatures of habit and any time that you can get on your regular routine, I think the player feels better about it and I think we feel better about it," the manager said today. "He did have some extra days off and I can't tell you that's the reason that he didn't have his command, you do feel better when a guy is on his regular routine."

But it isn't that much of a difference, is it? Before Game 2, he had six days off. This time, he has had five days off. We'll see.
