Curtis Granderson smacked his 26th home run last night in the Yankees’ 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The homer was off lefty David Price. It was the 10th home run for Granderson off left-handed pitchers, which leads the major leagues.

Granderson also matched last year’s home run total in the Yankees’ 95th game of the year. When he was traded to the Yankees prior to the 2010 season, the big knock against Granderson was his lack of success against lefties. This season he has made it a strong point in his game and will be mentioned as an MVP candidate.

Here’s a breakdown of Granderson’s numbers against lefties the last three seasons:

Year AB H HR RBI AVG OBP SLG
Tigers - 2009 180 33 2 9 .183 .245 .239
Yankees - 2010 158 37 4 12 .234 .292 .354
Yankees - 2011 113 30 10 27 .265 .339 .602
