Robinson Cano made two of his selections for the AL Home Run Derby team Monday and, unlike last year, there was little controversy. And regardless of his final pick, it isn't likely to create the problems the second baseman experienced last year.

Cano, lustily booed for two days in Kansas City last year because he didn't select Billy Butler of the hometown Royals for the AL squad, chose Chris Davis (33 homers) of the Orioles and Prince Fielder (15) of the Tigers. Cano, who entered Monday night with 20 homers, said he will make his final pick after the All-Star rosters are finalized.

The Derby will be held Monday night at Citi Field.

David Wright, who has 13 homers, selected the Rockies' Carlos Gonzalez (24 homers) and Michael Cuddyer (15) and the Nationals' Bryce Harper (13).

Cano, not in a joking tone at all, said last month there was "no chance" that he would select Butler for this year's team.

Butler entered Monday night's game with six homers -- and Cano had a nice view of No. 7, off Phil Hughes in the second, as it sailed into the rightfield seats.
