Jacoby Ellsbury will replace Chase Headley as the designated hitter for the Yankees in Friday’s Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians.
The Yankees announced their batting order for Game 2 on the team’s media relations verified Twitter account.
Ellsbury, who did not appear in Thursday night’s Game 1 against the Indians, will bat eighth. Aaron Hicks, who batted ninth in Game 1, will bat seventh and remain in centerfield for Game 2. Third baseman Todd Frazier, who batted seventh in Game 1, will bat ninth in Game 2.
The top six spots in the batting order remain the same with Brett Gardner (CF) leading off, followed by Aaron Judge (RF), Gary Sanchez (C), Didi Gregorius (SS), Starlin Castro (2B) and Greg Bird (1B).
Ellsbury was the designated hitter in Tuesday’s wild-card game against the Minnesota Twins, going 0-for-4.
Headley was 0-for-2 with a walk in Thursday’s Game 1.
