Ian Kinsler made the most hideous mistake in the Rangers' 6-5 loss Friday night. Maybe they would have lost anyway, but his team did have a touch of momentum back when Kinsler led off the eighth with a four-pitch walk from Kerry Wood. And there was reason for hope for the Rangers because Wood had been shoddy twice in his three appearances against the Twins.
But with Wood still having trouble finding the plate, Kinsler was caught daydreaming off the base, got picked off. End of chance for momentum. Jack Curry on YES afterward said that a high school player would have been embarrassed about getting picked off in that situation.
"I was being a little bit too aggressive," Kinsler told reporters afterward, quoted by mlb.com. "He picked off at the right time and got me."
