Jorge Posada has been doing some extra work with Kevin Long and he feels it's starting to pay off.
Posada went 2-for-5 in Monday's victory, including a two-run double in the first off the Tigers' hard-throwing right-hander Justin Verlander.
"I closed my eyes and swung," Posada said of the 99-mph fastball he hit over the head of centerfielder Austin Jackson in the first.
Joking aside, it was a miserable April for Posada, who came into Monday's game hitting .133 and coming off a 1-for-16 homestand. Still, he snapped an 0-for-19 skid Sunday with double Sunday and had two hits Monday.
"I'm feeling better at the plate lately," Posada said. "Just my stance and attacking the baseball, it seems I'm better."
