Ramiro Pena: See Ya?

YES broadcasters Michael Kay and Paul O'Neill had differing takes on Ramiro Pena's costly error againt the Phillies last night. In the fourth inning, Placido Polanco hit a grounder toward Pena at third and it went under his glove.

Kay said the ball never came up, O'Neill said the glove didn't come down. Based on numerous replays, O'Neill had the right call.  Young players tend to throw the ball before they scoop it up.

Pena is a good glove, no hit (.186) player, so even one miscue will stand out. And with Alex Rodriguez apt to miss some games at third due to injury or fatigue, even in the post George Steinbrenner era, one bad mistake by a fringe player could get him outta here.
