Multiple reports indicate that Detroit's Johnny Damon has been claimed on waivers by the Red Sox. The 36-year-old former Yankee, who has a no-trade clause with the Tigers, has not decided if he will return to his old team, where he played from 2002-2005.
Damon was with the Yankees from 2006 to 2010. He received a standing ovation last week when Detriot visited Yankee Stadium.
He has 48 hours to decide if he will leave Detroit. The report indicated that it was unclear if the Red Sox claimed Damon to acquire him or prevent him from going to a contender, such as Tampa Bay.
Damon is hitting .270 with seven home runs and 40 runs batted in.
