Robertson's worse than Hughes, and it might be too late to matter

Just when you started wondering if Joe Girardi had left Phil Hughes in one batter too long, David Robertson served up a pitch that made you wonder if he took out Hughes too soon.

Yankees pitching just has not been able to stop the Rangers from getting big hits. The two-run double by Vladimir Guerrero might go down as the series-clincher, Nelson Cruz' blast of a two-run homer might go down as the back breaker.

When I said that a bullpen battle favors the Yankees, I meant Kerry Wood and Mariano Rivera. It's 5-1 Rangers, who have been tougher and more clutch this series, at least so far.
