Sabathia: LeBron strength is unselfishness

Leave it to a friend to find the positive about LeBron James. CC Sabathia, who became friendly with James when both played in Cleveland and reportedly talked up the vitrtues of New York to the basketball superstar, said that James' greatest attribute as a player is his selflessness. That is in direct contrast to the wide public perception about the player who left the Cavaliers to join what looks to be a stcked team in Miami.

"It's just how unselfish he is, the way he gets everybody involved. Obviously, he’s the strongest player in the league," Sabathia said in the Yankees clubhouse at Cleveland's Progressive Field. "To be able to put that team on his back and win 62 games last year, or whatever they won, it’s an accomplishment."

On the fraternizing that led to James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all going to the Heat, the Yankees ace said, "When guys get out on the floor, get out on the field, they play hard against each other. It’s not like we want to fight when we get off the field. LeBron and D. Wade played on that USA team together and became really close and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I think they had their minds made up a long time ago that they wanted to play together and they made it happen."

When he was asked if he expects to see James at Progressive Field this week, while the Yankees are visiting, Sabathia just let out a pointed snort. He added, "That's a 'no.' "
