Earlier this afternoon in an interview on the FOX Business Network, Nick Swisher was, not surprisingly, asked about the Derek Jeter/Yankees contract impasse. Not surprisingly, his answer contained no surprises.
“He’s the face of the franchise," Swisher said. "He’s done so much for this team, so much for the city, and so much for the game of baseball. Who knows what’s gonna happen, but I could not see him in any other uniform than the pinstripes.”
Swisher also talked about how the Yankees' season ended, in a six-game ALCS loss to the Rangers.
"We had such an amazing season this year," he said. "We kind of tailed off toward the end, but, hey, we had a great team didn’t work out for us, but I know that that hunger’s gonna definitely be there next year. It’s a wonderful team, wonderful opportunity, and any time you get to put the pin stripes on every day, life is great.”
Swisher was on the network discussing his involvement in Movember, which helps raise awareness and and money for cancers that affect men.
"What a wonderful opportunity to team up with Movember and The Art of Shaving to help raise cancer awareness," Swisher said. "For myself, losing my grandmother from cancer and my mother going through Leukemia right now, it’s definitely an honor.”
